AthleteTokyo [single]
Every
so often a song
comes along that you like
immediately and it joins
the favourites that you
take around in the car with
you. For me, Athletes Tokyo is just like that...
THE SELF-PRODUCED ALBUM was recorded at Athlete's own South-East London
studio with "big tunes, big ideas and a whopping great heart".
It is also totally satisfying and has a tracklist that centres round environmental
and social catastrophe.
There is nothing to complain about with this single release from Athlete's top
5 album Beyond The Neighbourhood Tokyo has certainly pushed
out the boundaries here.
Melodious and heart-warming with pretty instrumentals and strong, attractive
vocals, Tokyo projects a laid back, relaxed attitude on the part of the
band as their energetic enthus-iasm sounds so effortless. But there is a seriousness
about it that is reflected in the tale of hypocrisy and the human condition.
Athlete's second single from their album
Beyond The Neighbourhood is Tokyo, which will be released on 19 November (2007).
