James
Fox Rocking Chairs And Lemonade [album]
Talented
UK singer-songwriter James
Fox doesnt
let the grass grow under
his feet hes
been busy recording
a new album for October, Rocking
Chairs And Lemonade, from which he
will release his new single Higher...
THE TALENTS OF JAMES FOX are many as he demonstrates on his
wonderful new, self-penned album that is due to be released on 27 October (2008)
and on which he plays guitar, piano and drums.
Rocking Chairs And Lemonade is anticipated as yet another success for
James to chalk up alongside his two UK Top 20 hits and a Number One in the UK
Indie Chart and Welsh Chart.
Hailing from South Wales, James is well known for his appearance in BBC's Fame
Academy 2003 and for representing Great Britain in the Eurovision Song Contest
in 2004. He then went on to play Judas Iscariot in the touring production of
Jesus Christ, Superstar.
Having impressed audiences on Broadway as the piano-playing lead in the Tony
Award-winning Billy Joel/Twyla Tharp musical Movin' Out, James toured
with the show in America before taking the lead when it came to the West End
at London's Apollo Victoria Theatre.
Legendary singer-songwriter Billy Joel was moved to comment on James' performances:
"I'm particularly pleased that the incredibly talented James Fox will be returning
to home turf he has been wowing audiences here and he's going to continue
to do so there."
Rocking Chairs And Lemonade brings together world class musicians and
tracks co-written by such luminaries as Phil Thornalley (Natalie Imbruglia's
Torn) and Mads Hauge (Daniel and Natasha Bedingfield) who also produced
the album.
Rocking Chairs And Lemonade is a luscious selection of pop songs from
this much-admired artiste whom you would never tire of hearing. With deep sincerity
in his attractive voice, James insists You Can Do Anything and
you really believe he can.
Lead off single Higher (to be released on October 6, 2008) is described
as "an infectious slice of upbeat pop". James Fox takes us through Higher
with a cheerful, pulsating rhythm that makes this single one of pop's finer
offerings. With this wonderfully addictive treatment, you'll find it difficult
to get any of the eleven tracks from Rocking Chairs And Lemonade out
of your head not that you'd want to!
Other tracks that are particularly noteworthy are Say Goodbye, a "full"
song which has a terrific melody with great lyrics; So Far Away From Home
with it's very different sound and an appealing musical arrangement; Steady
This Ship, poignant and pretty; and Turn Around which gets a soft
rock treatment and throbbing beat.
James claims many musical influences, including (of course!) Billy Joel as well
as Sting and Paul McCartney through to bands such as The Killers and Keane.
Rocking Chairs And Lemonade is compiled from (writing) sessions that
have spanned the last five years of James' career.
An experienced live performer, James has toured with Wet Wet Wet, Natasha Bedingfield,
Tina Turner and Lulu. He has regularly entertained the British Troops around
the world, including in Afghanistan and Iraq earning him two appearances
at The Festival Of Remembrance (2004 and 2006) in front of Her Majesty The Queen.
James Fox's new album, Rocking Chairs
And Lemonade, will be released on 27 October (2008) on Plastic Tomato Records.
His single, Higher, is the lead track from the album and will be released
on 6 October (2008).
