play live after a lengthy twenty years
The Very Best Of Ultravox Special
Edition CD/DVD features the original
80s line-up and a weighty tracklisting
that includes all the bands
greats...
WONDERFULLY NOSTALGIC and a terrific echo from the 80s is The Very Best
Of Ultravox Special Edition CD/DVD that sees the band in it's original
incarnation of Midge Ure, Chris Cross, Warren Cann and Billy Currie.
From the rousing Sleepwalk and the evocative Passing Strangers,
this Special Edition CD/DVD package contains eighteen magnificent digitally
remastered tracks on the CD and seventeen videos on the DVD.
One of the primary exponents of British electronic pop in the early 1980s, Ultravox
treats fans to this very special piece of the band's splendid work
the first time all Ultravox's hits have been available together as one collection
and released to coincide with the band's UK tour in April.
Remember the catchy, brilliant and fun All Stood Still? Or The Voice,
which is a beautiful, interesting and breath-taking track with enchanting harmonies.
Reap The Wild Wind is noteworthy and poignant; Hymn is just fantastically
creative and well developed; Visions In Blue is emotionally infused and
sentimental; One Small Day is more restrained, and Dancing With
Tears In My Eyes ventures out into fuller pop with collective, resounding
beats.
It comes as no surprise that this CD and DVD package is as ultra-special as
you would expect from The Very Best Of Ultravox and a fabulous and heart-stirring
trip down Memory Lane. Who could forget the simply gorgeous White
China, the great musical verve of Love's Great Adventure and All
Fall Down with its poetic, intriguing and folkish charm?
Says Midge Ure: "Over the years we have all been caught up with a number of
individual projects. When Billy and me were approached by Absolute Radio to
perform an acoustic set at their inaugural launch in October at Abbey Road Studios,
we took up the offer." He adds: "We were overwhelmed by the response of our
fans, which confirmed within the band that perhaps the time was right to re-form."
The DVD is a fantastic addition to any Ultravox fan's collection and is terrifically
evocative, wonderfully visual and totally awesome. Ultravox has talent aplenty
and is not afraid to prove it. The videos are compelling and dramatic and the
boys look like they were enjoying themselves. What a voice; what showmen. Vienna
still makes my toes curl!
