A
widowed policeman living in a
Californian beach house fulfils his sons
Christmas wish for a puppy; but he
may have to break the young boys
heart a year later when he is offered a
prestigious job with the FBI in New
York because they cannot keep a dog
in their new apartment...
AFTER THE DEATH OF HIS MOTHER, eleven-year-old Bobby Cole (Bryson Sams) is
brought up by his policeman father Patrick (C Thomas Howell: The Amazing
Superman) in the family home on Sunshine Beach, California.
The previous year saw the arrival of Korean Sapsali puppy Chilly Christmas (played
by Jake and Harlan) a rare breed favoured by Bobby's mother and
Number One on Bobby's Christmas Wish List and the proud owner
of A Christmas Tail! Just for the record, by the mid-1980s only eight
Sapsali remained in the world but the breed has since been saved.
With
a lot of fun
on the way, A Christmas
Tail is a cute, simple
and riotous comedy tale
for all the family of the
unconditional love
between a boy and the
dog that takes mischief
to new heights...
Chilly's
is unfortunately destructive as he romps around the house, but Bobby and he
are inseparable best friends; and the dog is protective of the young boy.
Then, just a week before their second Christmas together, Patrick drops his
bombshell and it looks as if Chilly may have to go.
Patrick has been offered a prestigious job with the FBI in New York, complete
with an apartment in Manhattan. But there is one big problem: Chilly is too
large and too chaotic to accompany them to the city and the last thing Bobby
wants is to lose his best friend.
Patrick's boss, Lt Mel Stone (Brooke Langton) is his late wife's former partner
and she offers to give Chilly a home; but as she hands Patrick his final job
in California and introduces him to his replacement, Detective Jasper Harris
(Casey Graf) from the Santa Barbara Police Department, they little realise that
Chilly will pay a key part in solving the case.
A gang of pedigree dog-nappers, run by the ruthless Quarterman (Tom Arnold:
True Lies), is on the prowl and pretty soon they have their sights on
Chilly. As Bobby's friends Kizzy (Cassidy Mack) and Caps (Karan Brar) frantically
try to teach Chilly how to behave in a plan called Operation Christmas Miracle,
they have just five days to prove dogs can change their spots.
Can Bobby convince his father that Chilly can be perfectly behaved? Will he
outwit the crooks and succeed in creating his own Christmas Miracle? With a
lot of fun along the way, A Christmas Tail is a cute, simple and riotous
comedy tale for all the family of the unconditional love between a boy and the
dog that takes mischief to new heights.
A Christmas Tail also features: Drake Kemper as Shane Mahoney; Kyle Matthew
as Jake Mahoney; and Jonathan Kowalski as Hale. Music is by John Coda; director
of Photography is R Michael Givens; Producer is Steven Paul; and Written & Directed
by Gregory Popper.
