A
conscientious Louisiana detective
winds up working with the contract killer
he persuades to turn informant when
he goes up against the most powerful
crime ring in the South, headed by
a notorious gangster who has ordered
their execution in the gripping thriller Bad Country...
NEEDING INSIDER HELP, Baton Rouge Police Detective "Bud" Carter (the terrific,
Two-time Academy Award Nominee Willem Dafoe Best Supporting Actor: Shadow
of the Vampire, 2001; Best Supporting Actor, Platoon, 1986) convinces
Jesse Weiland (Academy-Award Nominee Matt Dillon Best Supporting Actor
Crash, 2006), the contract killer he has arrested, to turn informant
as he takes on a powerful crime ring headed by the cold-blooded Lutin Adams
(superbly played by Academy Award Nominee Tom Berenger Best Supporting
Actor, Platoon, 1986).
During a Police raid on Jesse's home, his wife Lynn (sympathetically played
by Amy Smart: Crank) goes into labour and gives birth to a little boy.
Jesse is worried about the safety of his family if he double-crosses Adams but,
facing the prospect of a long-term prison sentence for the crimes he has committed,
is willing to do a deal with Bud.
The
gritty action thriller
Bad Country,
described as a modern
film noir,
is a tense and
exhilarating trip through
the dangerous world
of narcotics
where nobody is safe...
He
is released from prison, leaving behind his brother Tommy (Christopher Weiland)
who is terrified of being left in prison on his own.
When "Catfish" Stanton (John Edward Lee) goes on a killing spree, nobody is
safe. Bud will have to move in hard and fast if he is to nail the killer and
keep Jesse and his family safe.
But will Jesse's decision to go straight cost him dear and place him in the
line of fire or will Bud and his colleagues in the Force be able to put Adams
securely behind bars before everything gets out of hand?
