Based
on the novel by master of
suspense Edgar Wallace, Circus
Of Fear is a chilling story of an
audacious security van robbery
that goes horribly wrong with clues
leading back to a circus where
things are far from innocent...
FOLLOWING A SECURITY VAN ROBBERY where a security guard is killed, Scotland
Yard's Inspector Elliott (Leo Genn) a laid-back, quietly determined police
officer goes undercover as a photographer to try to discover how the
theft links to the Barberini Circus that is laid up for the winter.
Some of the stolen banknotes have come into circulation and can be traced back
to the circus, where an assortment of entertainers may have something to hide.
When the body of one of the crooks turns up dead with a knife in his back, the
manic circus knife-thrower, Mario (Maurice Kaufmann) is suspect, not least because
of his uneasy relationship with his assistant.
A thrilling Sixties film
that benefits from
fine acting talent that
includes the great horror
star Christopher Lee,

and plenty of clues to
keep you guessing...
Is
ringmaster Carl (Heinz Draghe) as innocent as he appears? And what of the masked,
apparently disfigured, Gregor (the suitably enigmatic Christopher Lee) and his
niece? Is he really what he seems to be? While circus owner Barberini (Anthony
Newlands) appears to be hiding something, there may be someone else who knows
more than it appears. And the blackmailing dwarf Mr Big (Skip Martin) may just
be pushing the wrong person...
When another body turns up, Inspector Elliott reveals himself and the net closes
in, but not before the body count rises…
