A
brilliant, billionaire scientist marries
a beautiful young woman and showers
her with gifts; but the apparently
adoring husband who gives his wife a
fabulous lifestyle hides a terrible secret
that, when it is revealed, will shatter
the illusion and endanger her life in the
thriller Elizabeth Harvest... BASED
ON THE BLUEBEARD LEGEND, Elizabeth Harvest begins with the newly-wed
Elizabeth (Abbey Lee: Mad Max: Fury Road) hardly able to believe her
luck as her wealthy, brilliant scientist husband Henry (Ciarán Hinds: The
Woman In Black; Justice League; Frozen) is passionate, attentive and willing
to give her whatever she wants and needs.
At his huge hi-tech secluded mountain mansion, she wonders at his magnificent
estate and marvels at the beautiful clothes he has provided for her; jewels
beyond all expectation and lavish intimate meals. Henry and his assistants cater
to her every whim. All that he has is hers; he shares with her his home, his
land, his money. But he warns her that although she can go anywhere she pleases
in the house there is just one room that is forbidden and that she must never
enter.
Intriguing
and
somewhat bizarre movie
with some unexpected
twists that turn
a seemingly
straightforward story
into an unusual tale.
Worth watching!
Assisting
Henry in the house is Claire (Carla Gugino), whose relationship with Henry is
not what it seems, and the blind Oliver (Matthew Beard) who may or may not be
Henry's son.
In the way of all tense horror films and thrillers, Elizabeth cannot shake off
the feeling that something is not quite right and is eventually overcome with
curiosity.
With Henry away, she ventures into the room to be confronted with the horrifying
truth. Confused and unable to hide what she has done, Elizabeth's life is in
danger. Forced to take drastic measures as her whole world collapses around
her, she is thrown into a repetitive, blood-soaked nightmare scenario that can
only end in further tragedy.
Fans of Ex-Machina and Rebecca will enjoy this intriguing and
somewhat bizarre movie with some unexpected twists that turn a seemingly straightforward
story into an unusual although, at times, a complicated tale. Worth watching,
not only for the talented Ciarán Hinds and Abbey Lee's portrayal of the naïve
yet resourceful Elizabeth, but also a rather fascinating, if on the slow side,
developing storyline.
Elizabeth Harvest also features Dylan Taylor as Detective Logan.
