Into The Wild
Into The Wild Don’t miss Sean Penns
  critically-acclaimed film
  adaptation of the best-
  selling book Into The Wild
  — the captivating story
  of one young man
s
  adventure across America
  and into the isolation of
  the wilds of Alaska...”

FEATURING AN ALL-STAR CAST — including Academy Award nominee Hal Holbrook — Paramount Home Entertainment presents Director and Screenwriter Sean Penn's critically-acclaimed adaptation of the inspirational true story of Into The Wild.

The film opens with Christopher McCandless (Emile Hirsch, Alpha Dog) riding a train in the Yukon Territory. The camera zooms in on a name carved onto one of the wagons — 'Alexander Supertramp 1992'.

Two years before The Magic Bus, we are told intriguingly, Christopher McCandless — whose genius father worked for NASA — graduated from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, with grades good enough to enter Harvard, $24,000 dollars in his college fund and a promising career ahead of him. But the gifted student with a love of books turned his back on a privileged life, gave his money to Oxfam, abandoned his car and took off on an adventure across America and into the isolation of the wilds of Alaska.

Into The Wild is the story of a young man from a troubled and complic-ated background who was transformed into an enduring symbol for countless people — a fearless risk-taker who challenged the precarious balance between man and nature.

Chris works his way across America, finding employment as a chef for Burger King and a combine harvester driver. Two months into his journey his parents, Billie and Walt McCandless (Marcia Gay Harden, Mystic River, and William Hurt, A History Of Violence) discover he is missing when they pay a surprise visit to Atlanta, where they thought he was living. Finding an empty apartment they begin searching for their son.

Meanwhile, Chris has been busy exploring America: Lake Mead Arizona; The Pacific Crest Trail in Northern California; Eastern South Dakota; canoeing on the Colorado River and living in a cave in Mexico before heading North to Alaska — meeting a mixed bag of people on the way and affecting their lives every bit as much as they affect his: "Rubber tramps" Rainey (Brian Dierker) and Jan (Catherine Keener, Capote); an uninhibited Danish couple; Wayne Westerberg (Vince Vaughn, The Break-Up) and the gentle Ron Franz (Hal Holbrook, Waking The Dead, who received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor). The film has also received an Oscar nomination for Achievement in Film Editing.

Based on the book by John Krakeur, Into The Wild features phenomenal performances from the all-star cast and also noteworthy are: Jena Malone (Pride and Prejudice) as Chris's sister Carine; Kristen Stewart
as Tracy Tatro; Cheryl Francis Harrington as a social worker; and Bart the Bear!

Into The Wild is dedicated to the memory of Christopher Johnson McCandless.
