Justified:
The Complete First Season
In
a compelling television series
a modern-day gunslinger operates on
the side of the law as a US Deputy
Marshal, waiting for the moment the
criminals go for their weapons
before taking them out
but only
if it is Justified...
THE CRITICALLY-ACCLAIMED CRIME DRAMA Justified shoots onto DVD with
the smooth-talking, quick-draw Deputy Marshal Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant:
Television's Damages and Deadwood; Scream 2; Gone
In 60 Seconds), whose no-nonsense brand of justice sees him transferred
from Miami to his home-town of Harlan, Kentucky, after he takes out a violent
drug cartel hit-man.
Givens is a 21st Century Western hero, complete with Stetson and cowboy boots,
based on the character created from legendary crime novelist Elmore Leonard's
Fire In The Hole. Like any self-respecting gunfighter, he does everything
by the book his book, in which his every action is Justified.
But, worried about a backlash from Washington over the public shooting, Givens'
superiors have begun to question his renegade style of law enforcement.
This terrific and immensely enjoyable series follows the complicated life of
the Deputy Marshal made even more complex
by his reluctant return to the town in which he grew up; where his difficult,
dishonest father Arlo (Raymond J Barry), his former wife Winona Hawkins (Natalie
Zea) and his childhood friends still live.
On arrival at Lexington, the Eastern District of Kentucky, Givens reports to
Chief Deputy Art Mullen (Nic Searcy), whom he has met before. Mullen wants him
to pick up Boyd Crowdon (Walton Coggins), an old friend of Givens from the days
when the two nineteen-year-olds dug coal together, who has been implicated in
destroying an American-African church with a rocket-launcher and also the death
of his accomplice.
Crowdon's brother's wife Ava (Joelle Carter), who has had a crush on Givens
since she was young, has killed her husband after one beating too many. And
the boys' ruthless, sadistic father Bo (M C Gainey) cares for nobody. Dealing
with a Columbian drug baron, Bo Crowdon will cruelly dispose of anyone who gets
in his way, even if it is his own son.
Justified: The Complete First Season has a main story running throughout
the thirteen episodes of Givens' attempts to keep Ava safe, come to terms with
his father's criminal deeds and put a stop to Bo Crowdon's activities. The Deputy
Marshal faces difficult challenges, but can he believe Boyd's claims that he
has found God and no longer wishes to stay on the wrong side of the law? Will
he be able to resist Ava's charms and will he ever be able to trust his father?
In this thrilling first season Givens tackles a number of assignments, including
tracking down an escaped felon who plays in a Bluegrass band and exposing a
corrupt sheriff. Watch this great series and you can see exactly what makes
Raylan's Wild West, gunslinging actions Justified.
