Percy
Jackson And The Lightning Thief
The
highly entertaining fantasy
adventure film Percy Jackson And
The Lightning Thief scores high
as mythology clashes with the 21st
Century, setting Gods at loggerheads,
unleashing all manner of dangerous
creatures and causing mega-problems
for a young demigod called Percy
who is unaware of his real identity...
WITH THE DISCOVERY OF THE THEFT OF THE LIGHTNING BOLT belonging to Zeus (the
versatile Sean Bean: Sharpe; Lord Of The Rings) comes an adventure that
will literally shake up Heaven, Earth and the underworld as a far-from-ordinary
boy takes on the Gods themselves when he finds he is falsely accused of stealing.
Seemingly average American High School student Percy Jackson (teen heart-throb
Logan Lerman: 3:10 To Yuma) has no idea that he is to incur the wrath
of the Gods, his life is in grave danger and that his long-absent father is
about to make a dramatic appearance.
Percy's gentle mother Sally (Catherine Keener) is unhappily married to gross,
low-life Gabe Ugliano (Joe Pantoliano) and Percy detests his stepfather. But
Sally and Percy will find out that life can get a lot worse Mount Olympus
will have no peace until the bolt is back in its rightful place.
The finger of suspicion points directly at Percy, bringing him to the attention
not only of Zeus but also of the underworld ruled by the diabolical Hades (Steve
Coogan: Night At The Museum 2; Tropic Thunder) who will leave no stone
unturned to find the bolt and use it for his own dark purposes.
Percy is coming to realise that not everyone is what they seem as at school
he falls foul of a ferocious fury, only to be rescued by an unexpected ally.
He then discovers that his real father is none other than the God Poseidon (Kevin
McKidd: Trainspotting, Gray's Anatomy) and therefore he is a demigod.
Hades wants to find the lightning rod before the Gods can and realising the
importance of Percy's dangerous task, his mother takes him to Camp Half-Blood
to fulfil his destiny. It is a destiny that is to take him to the very depths
of the underworld in the company of the remarkable Annabeth (Alexandra Daddario:
Law And Order; All My Children) who is the daughter of the Goddess Athena
and a satyr called Grover (Brandon T Jackson: Fast And Furious; The Day The
Earth Stood Still).
Facing danger at every turn as he battles frightening creatures that include
the blood-thirsty Minotaur and the evil Medusa (Uma Thurman: My Super Ex-Girlfriend;
Batman And Robin), Percy and his friends must face the challenges of Earth,
Heaven and the underworld, searching high and low to find the real thief who
stole the lightning bolt and get it back to Zeus before the Summer Solstice.
But Hades has kidnapped Sally and is holding her to ransom in exchange for the
lightning bolt. Will Percy avoid being turned into stone, outsmart the seductive
Lotus Eaters and help his mother to escape from Hades? And will he find the
lightning bolt in time to return it to Olympus and pacify the battling Greek
Gods? Percy Jackson And The Lightning Thief is an exciting blend of fantasy,
adventure and enough thrilling action to keep you riveted.
