A
child disappearing is the reality of
the unthinkable; but not knowing if
his daughter and her friend are alive
or dead drives a dedicated father
and family man to the brink of madness,
where he will do whatever it takes to
discover the truth in Prisoners...
A HAPPY THANKSGIVING SHARED with friends is the beginning of a nightmare
for the families of two young girls who disappear the only possible clue
being the presence of an RV in the neighbourhood, being driven by a young man
with learning difficulties.
Keller Dover (Hugh Jackman: Les Misérables), his wife Grace (Golden Globe
Award nominee Maria Bello: A History Of Violence; The Cooler) and their
children Ralph (Dylan Minnette) and Anna (Erin Gerasimonovich) have been invited
to celebrate Thanksgiving with their friends Franklin (Oscar Nominee Terrence
Howard: Hustle & Flow) and Nancy Birch (Oscar nominee Viola Davis: The
Help; Doubt) and their children Eliza (Zoë Soul) and Joy (Kyla-Drew Simmons).
In
the powerful
and emotional thriller
Prisoners, a man is
driven to the brink
as each tense
twist brings him closer
to discovering
the fate of his missing
daughter.
Hugh Jackman is
the man...
Anna
has lost a whistle given to her by her father and she wants to go back home
to find it with Joy. Although they have been told not to leave the house alone,
they do; and some time later their frantic parents realise they are missing.
After a thorough search of the area, they call the Police and Ralph gives them
a description of the dilapidated RV. The vehicle is quickly found and the driver,
Alex Jones (Paul Dano) who has the mind of a ten-year-old
is held for questioning but released due to a lack of evidence.
In charge of the investigation is Detective Loki (the wonderful Jake Gyllenhaal:
Brokeback Mountain), who explores every possibility and follows up the
increasing number of clues including the unsolved disappearance
of young Barry Milland twenty-six years ago. But have they missed something
vital along the way? Could someone else be responsible for the disappearance
of Anna and Joy?
As Police and volunteers search for the missing girls, the mummified body of
a man is found in the church cellar and Father Patrick Dunn (David Dastmalchian)
is brought in for questioning. Could the death of this man have a bearing on
the case?
As the days pass, a desperate Keller gets increasingly frustrated until at last
his anger spills over and he does something that puts him on the wrong side
of the law he commits an unthinkable atrocity in an attempt to
force a conclusion. Convinced his daughter is still alive and that every second
wasted puts her and Joy's life in danger, he becomes as cold-hearted and unfeeling
as the hardest criminal. Hugh Jackman is utterly and horrifyingly convincing.
Just how far will a father go to protect his family? In the powerful and emotional
thriller Prisoners, a man is driven to the brink as each tense twist brings

final twist.
