Two
youngsters on the run in the
wild American South West: one a
notorious outlaw avoiding capture by
a dogged sheriff and the other trying
to keep himself on the right side of the
law after he and his sister are violently
orphaned; and while he is attempting
to protect them both from falling into
the clutches of their wicked uncle, their
world touches that of a famous outlaw
in the action-packed Western The Kid...
FORCED TO KILL HIS ABUSIVE FATHER while trying to protect his mother from
an unprovoked and severe beating, young Rio Cutler (Jake Schur) is too late
to save her as his mother has already died.
At the mercy of their villainous uncle Grant Cutler (Chris Pratt: Guardians
of the Galaxy), who is out for revenge after discovering his brother has
been killed by his own son, Rio and his sister Sara (Leila George) run away,
setting out across the American South West to find sanctuary with their mother's
friend in Santa Fe.
Based
around
the historic Old West
tales, The Kid is an
excellent, gritty and
enthralling Western
with a wonderful cast
bringing both men
of legend and a new
imagining together
superbly...
With
their uncle in hot pursuit, they steal a horse and ride off, little knowing
they are about to cross paths with real life legendary old west characters William
"Billy the Kid" Bonney (Dane DeHaan: Valerian and the City of a Thousand
Planets) and Sheriff Pat Garrett (Ethan Hawke: Training Day).
Taking shelter in an apparently abandoned cabin, Rio and Sara are joined by
Billy and his friends but they are quickly surrounded by Pat and his posse.
When Pat captures Billy, whom he intends to take to Lincoln County, via Santa
Fe, to stand trial, he is persuaded to allow Rio and Sara to join them on the
journey.
Rio witnesses the cat-and-mouse game between Billy and Pat play out during the
final years of Billy's life as the outlaw tries to escape Pat's custody while
also helping the youngster when Sara is abducted by their uncle, who is out
to punish them and has an unthinkable fate in store for the innocent girl…
Rio has already killed once, in an attempt to save his mother, and Billy began
his outlaw life by killing a man who murdered his friend. Not really wanting
to kill again, Rio has to decide where he draws the line. Will he become a man
outside the law or use one final, heroic deed in order to save his sister?
