When
a pregnant well-heeled woman
meets a struggling mother-to-be working
in her local supermarket, they bond
over their expected new arrivals, but
one has a sinister hidden agenda and
both have closely-kept secrets in the
tense Australian psychological thriller The Secrets She Keeps...
ACCIDENTALLY PREGNANT WITH HER THIRD CHILD, a boy, Meghan O'Shaughnessy (Jessica
de Gouw: The Crown; Vienna Blood) runs a successful blog called Mucky
Kids. Her husband Jack (Michael Dorman: Patriot; The Invisible Man) is
a high-flying television executive and they have just moved into a new luxury
home in an affluent Sydney suburb.
While shopping at the local supermarket, Meghan meets shelf-stacker Agatha "Aggie"
Fyfle (Laura Carmichael: Downton Abbey; The Spanish Princess), a young
Englishwoman who tells her she is also expecting a baby boy and around the same
date. Although they come from vastly different backgrounds, they bond.
An
edgy and highly
watchable psychological
series with
well-imagined characters
developing in a finely-
tuned plot.
Keeping up a good
pace, the series never
falters...
Meghan
does not have the perfect life it appears she has. She is getting alarming sinister
messages on her blog, is hiding a potentially explosive secret and Jack is not
as attentive as he once was; he is not happy to be having a third child as he
feels they are already financially over-committed.
Jack's best friend Simon Beecher (Ryan Corr: Cleverman; Hacksaw Ridge)
is attracted to Meghan and is Godfather to their daughter Lucy (Eva Greenwood).
Lucy's younger brother Lachlan (Henry McWilliam) had, Jack felt, completed his
family.
Unknown to Meghan, Aggie has had a traumatic life that has impacted on her in
a bad way. Her former boyfriend Hayden Cole (Michael Sheasby: The Luminaries;
A Place To Call Home), away in the Navy, has reluctantly reconnected with
her since hearing she is expecting their child and she has been welcomed by
his family.
Aggie is stalking Meghan; watching her at home in what Aggie perceives as Meghan's
perfect house, with her perfect husband and perfect family. Jack is keeping
a secret and so is Meghan. Just how far will Aggie go in her attempts to find
a life like Meghan's? Aggie's secrets are about to come tumbling out in a terrifying
and potentially tragic way…
