Living
in the shadow of a couple of idolised
bad-boy cop heroes, two
overlooked and mismatched NYPD
Detectives get an opportunity to shine
in the funny and totally entertaining
comedy action film The Other Guys...
KICKING OFF IN A BLAZE OF GLORY, New York Police Department's star
heroes P K Highsmith (Samuel L Jackson: Deep Blue Sea; Snakes On A Plane)
and Christopher Danson (Dwayne Johnson: Walking Tall; Welcome To The Jungle)
cause chaos and mayhem in a fascinating, earth-shattering car-bus-sting shoot-out
and car chase; still ending up with a standing ovation despite
costing the city millions of dollars in property damage.
The conceited, brash, womanising, rule book-burning and egotistical Highsmith
and Danson just don't do paperwork, seem to get their cues from Die
Hard and believe they are the untouchables. But, even if they do always
get their man, they are just about to have a great fall…
With Highsmith and Danson out of the picture, there is nobody capable of stepping
into their shoes. Enter Detectives Terry Hoitz (Mark Wahlberg: Date Night;
The Departed) who already has a black mark against him for an accidental
shooting and Allen Gamble (Will Ferrell), two of The Other Guys
who have always had to take second place to the gung-ho duo and who are least
likely to succeed.
After holding them back, Captain of Police Gene Mauch (Michael Keaton: Batman;
Out Of Sight) who also moonlights as a bathroom salesman!
allows this mismatched pair to get a taste of the action. Pretty soon Hoitz
and Gamble are in the thick of it with an investigation that could uncover
New York City's biggest crime.
Hoitz and Gamble are looking into the affairs of billionaire David Ershon (Steve
Coogan: Night At The Museum 1 & 2; Tropic Thunder), who is not above
using and losing other people's money in order to make more of his own
and one source could be closer to home than the soon-to-be dynamic duo could
suspect.
Hoitz seems to have an anger management problem and Gamble appears to be disrespectful
to his beautiful, intelligent wife, Sheila (Eva Mendes: Hitch; Training Day).
Gradually the two detectives begin to work well together to discover exactly
what the wealthy banker is planning. But Ershon has some very dubious and extremely
dangerous contacts.
The Other Guys has plenty to keep you glued to your seat as Ershon schemes
and Hoitz and Gamble survive car chases and kidnapping and even find time to
look up Gamble's exes! An excellent film with a sterling cast of gifted and
witty actors. The comedy is very funny and the action riveting; while Ferrell,
Wahlberg, Mendes, Keaton and Coogan deliver the goods in every way. The casting
is superb, all the way along the line.
The exclusive bonus features on the Blu-ray include the first ever all-mum commentary

McKay and writer Chris Henchy serve up their hilarious and uncensored reactions
