the Second World War action thriller War Pigs...
A GREAT MOVIE FOR ANY RESPECTABLE WAR FILM COLLECTION, War Pigs
is a Second World War action thriller that benefits from a creditable cast of
action heroes.
On 6 June 1944 D-Day Western Allied Forces were
fighting for the liberation of Nazi-occupied France. By September they had reached
the heavily-defended German border prepared for an all-out assault.
An
excitingly tense
Second World War story
of an officer who is
wrongly accused
of neglecting his duty,
War Pigs is stark
and gritty as the team
face a ruthless and
unrelenting enemy...
World
War I veteran Captain Jack Wosick (Luke Goss: Hellboy II; Tekken) was
leading his team of United States infantry in Belgium when they are faced with
the realities of war. The operation goes horribly wrong and all his men, including
a close friend, are killed in a German ambush.
Despite following orders to the letter, he is blamed for the loss of his men
and the failure of the operation. He was given the wrong orders which meant
they were in the wrong position at the wrong time but he is nevertheless
made a scapegoat and disgraced.
Later that year, in France and demoted to Lieutenant, Jack is given an opportunity
to be cleared of all charges and is tasked by battle-hardened Colonel A J Redding
(Mickey Rourke: The Expendables; Immortals) with leading a team of hand-picked
misfit soldiers on a vital new top secret mission alongside French Foreign Legion
Captain Hans Picault (Dolph Lundgren: The Expendables).
The unit, known as War Pigs, are under orders to get behind enemy lines
to observe a Nazi-developed super weapon the V3, a massive artillery
cannon that would give the enemy a huge advantage and could change the entire
course of the war.
Hans' presence is vital but, while resisting taking orders from a Frenchman,
the men are suspicious of the former captain who apparently led his last unit
to their death. Jack has to earn his men's respect and gain their trust so that
they may work together to successfully complete their mission. The men are fully
aware that a lot of soldiers died following Jack and that it could well happen
again and they must evade capture at any cost.
The stakes are high and the chances of success very slim but the new squad has
the highly experienced Colonel Redding behind them and, although they have yet
to acknowledge it, the hands-on approach of two capable officers at their helm.
It is a highly dangerous mission with the outcome of the war at stake. Jack
is determined to succeed, whatever the cost, but he will soon face a decision
that will once again put him in a difficult position this time
he will actively disobey an order…
