Wolfhound
is for you if you love
fantasy with gripping drama,
supernatural overtones and heart-
warming moments in a story that
follows a young boys tragic loss
of his family and his final vengeance
against the brutal killer...
FROM THE LAND OF FOLKLORE AND LEGEND comes the rip-roaring fantasy movie
Wolfhound or, to give it the full title, Wolfhound of the Clan Of
The Gray Dog. This Russian movie is based on the first of a series of four
books by Mariya Semyonova and begins with a raid on a village by horsemen and
the slaughter of every man, woman and child in a village except for one small
child a child who had witnessed a man with the image of a wolf's
head on his hand murder his mother, father and unborn sister.
The child is taken away to work in the mines and grows up to become a master
swordsman known as Wolfhound (Aleksandr Bukharov), vowing to avenge the deaths
of his family at the hands of the horsemen led by two evil druids, Greedy and
Maneater, who are said to be the servants of the ancient, malevolent goddess
Morana.
With only an injured bat known as Torn Wing for company, Wolfhound begins his
quest at Greedy's castle, where he is able to kill the first of the murderers
and in doing so rescues a handmaiden and a psychic blind man, who is also a
healer, who join him on his journey. The escape from the burning castle is startlingly
impressive.
Setting off amid breath-taking scenery, Wolfhound seeks the help of the spirit
of the Priestess of the Light Moon, Mother Kendarat, and meets some fellow travellers
escorting the Princess Knesinka through the forest to the city of Gilirad. The
forest proves to be perilous and Wolfhound helps the Princess's guards fight
off an attack that provides him with further clues to the whereabouts of Maneater
and brings him his own father's stolen sword. But when the travelling companions
reach the city, all is not well.
Wolfhound finds a city under a curse and learns of Maneater's unthinkable plan
to awaken the cruel and terrible Morana the Deadly and unleash untold
horrors upon the world.
An incredible sword and sorcery tale, Wolfhound balances fantasy and
the supernatural with a riveting adventure dominated by heart-stopping battles,
astonishing special effects and innovative creatures. Torn Wing is terrific
and a great help to Wolfhound. From the special effects team responsible for
the Nightwatch vampire, Wolfhound is an earth-shattering beast
of a movie.
Momentum Pictures presents Wolfhound,
a ferocious fantasy of swords and sorcery, medieval kingdoms and unrelenting
revenge available on DVD from 22 February. RRP: £15.99.
