Devastated
by the loss of his brother,
a young man is offered the chance to
unwind and come to terms with his death
by staying at his best friends
familys
remote island retreat little realising
that he will not be alone and that his life
is about to change dramatically in the
funny and thought-provoking Your
Sisters
Sister...
CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF THEIR DEAR FRIEND Tom (Mike Harring in photos) on the
first anniversary of his death, a group of friends come together to reminisce
and are taken aback by the bluntness of his brother Jack (Mark Duplass), who
paints a far from rosy picture of his late sibling in an emotional outburst.
Realising that it is grief that makes Jack appear to be so critical of his late
brother, his best friend Iris (the charming Golden Globe Award-winner Emily
Blunt), who had ended her relationship with Tom some time before his death,
suggests he should go to her father's remote island home for a short break to
find himself again in peace and quiet.
Oh-my-God,
Your Sisters Sister is
surprisingly fascinating,
sad and funny
as human emotions
are laid bare...
But
as he arrives at the house, Jack realises someone else is there. Iris's elder
sister Hannah (the delightful Rosemarie Dewitt) has split from her long-term
girlfriend, who was unfaithful to her with a younger woman, and needs some space
to nurse her broken heart.
Within hours they end up in bed together; but does Hannah have an ulterior motive
for the seduction and will Jack find himself regretting the temptation? Further
problems come about when Iris turns up unannounced the following morning.
Awkward moments turn into deep-seated complications as secrets are shared, boundaries
are crossed and some pretty heated moments follow in this emotionally twisted
tale of siblings and best friends; loyalty and love.
Opening to rave reviews upon its nationwide cinema release earlier this year
(2012), Shelton once again honestly explores the complexities of interpersonal
relationships while gently poking fun at her characters' predicaments. Oh-my-God,
Your Sister's Sister is surprisingly fascinating, sad and funny as human
emotions are laid bare. As you'd expect there's sexual content and references
and some bad language.
Your Sister's Sister also features Mike Birbiglia as Al. Creative Consultants
